Russia and Ukraine Exchange Strikes Despite Unilateral Ceasefire Declarations
Although both parties have declared their own unilateral ceasefire, Russia and Ukraine launched attacks against each other yesterday. Russia’s air strikes have claimed over 20 lives in Ukraine, as a Russian cruise missile attack devastated the Kramatorsk area, whereas Ukrainian drones and “Flamingo” rockets targeted targets located 1,500km away from the combat zone inside Russia. The ceasefire declared by Ukraine is also indefinite and is set to commence earlier than Russia’s ceasefire as well, making Russia’s future moves appear as an attempt to breach peace talks. On the other hand, Russia has curtailed the 9th of May parade in Moscow as a consequence of security risks, which was perceived by President Zelensky as “Russian weakness.”
